Contact Us The 4 "P's" to Your Perfect Honeymoon Ask the "Honeymoon Lady" Top 10 Honeymoon Destinations Do's & Don'ts All-Inclusive Resorts Island Destination Weddings Off the Beaten Path

I have traveled the world since I was a young boy. I learned to snorkel at age five. At 12 I became a certified scuba diver. If you are looking for a warm, tropical honeymoon spot, chances are I have been there and will be able to give tons of information on what to do there. My clients love the way I am able to give details like what room # to stay in to get the best view, or which hotel has the best beach or where to go for good nightlife at their destination.

"So Jim, were would you go on your honeymoon", is the most frequent question everyone asks me. Out of all the places I have been, Australia is my all-time favorite destination. Personally, though, for a honeymoon, I think I would have to say Fiji. That is one of those romantic, once in a lifetime types of honeymoon spots. Imagine you on a private island with only you, your loved one and a thatched roof hut on a palm fringed beach at sunset. That is Fiji. A little closer to home, the island of St. Lucia is as romantic as it gets in the Caribbean. You can get your own bungalow with a plunge pool in the rainforest. And it's only a 6 hour plane flight from here.

I also love the all-inclusive concept - I call it a worry free honeymoon. It's a no-brainer, everything's paid for up front. Just get on the plane and leave your wallet at home. Drink at the swim up pool bar, learn to water-ski, and dine on lobster at night. It's all included. I have been to Sandals St. Lucia 5 times and can honestly say it's the most impressive. All the resorts are different, so it pays to know what you're getting.

The major thing I look for in a destination is scenery. Mountains, jungles, volcanoes, & awesome beaches. I like action and being outdoors. Like hiking in a rainforest, swimming in waterfalls, even swimming with dolphins. I usually rent a Jeep when I get somewhere so I can head out to secret spots and beaches only the locals know about. I also eat every food imaginable, so I make a point to try all of the local specialties at all of the places I travel to. From Mahi Mahi in Maui, to jerk chicken in Jamaica, I've tried it all. I will be able to prepare you ahead of time as to what to expect on your dinner plate

That being said, Costa Rica is probably the destination out of all the places I have been that has everything I am looking for. Rain forests, volcanoes, white water rafting, 4x4 excursions, etc. The resorts there are also very unique. Many give you your own hut in the middle of the jungle or your own villa with private pool overlooking the ocean. All in a friendly atmosphere. It doesn't get much better than that.

What's my best advice? Two things. One of the golden rules of planning the honeymoon is to go to a place that the two of you have never been. The other thing to watch out for is procrastination. If you're going to any place small and unique - not your typical big island resort - do yourself a favor and book it 7-10 months ahead. A lot of guys will get started in time and then let it got for nearly six months. I'll get a call six months later saying "Go ahead and book it" well, surprise…those places are all gone. The deals are gone too. You've got a lot less to select from, and it gets to be a real headache. Why put yourself through that? Plan it and book it ahead of time and get what you want.
